    Junior Parkrun

Pemberley made the news again, check out the article on YourHarlow.com!

TWO members of the Harlow junior parkrun core team were busy last week visiting three primary schools in Harlow to spread the word about how wonderful Harlow junior parkrun is!

The children at Katherines Primary Academy, Harlowbury Primary School and Pemberley Academy Primary School heard about how junior parkrun is a free, weekly timed 2km run in Harlow Town Park for children aged between 4 and 14.

They learnt about how they need to register in advance and print out their personal barcode to bring each week. Children from each school were chosen to take on the roles of the volunteers who help out every week. They were run directors, marshals, time keepers and more! They also heard about the wristbands given out to participants for various achievements.

Finally the children, and staff, joined in with the warm up they do each week before starting the run.

They are booked into three more school in the next few weeks and are happy to make more appointments if other schools would like them to visit.

Please get in touch by emailing [email protected].

They hope these visits mean lots of new faces in Town Park, by the Llamas at Pets Corner, on Sunday at 9am!! (Visit https://www.parkrun.org.uk/harlow-juniors/ for all details and how to register in advance)

    Do You Remember?

This Summer, the children faced the daunting prospect of performing on stage at Harlow Playhouse, and they not only rose to the occasion, they knocked it out of the park!

The children performed hits from the 60s through to the 00s, and acted out some memorable highlights from each decade.

Pemberley Academy pupils shine on Harlow Playhouse stage

THE pupils from Pemberley Academy had the chance to shine on Friday night when they took to the Playhouse stage for their end of year performance. No strangers to the venue, where the children had performed in last year although in the smaller Studio 2.

Taking the parents back through the decades with a show entitled ‘Do you remember’ the children from Reception to year 4 treated the audience to drama, dance and music in front of a sell out house.

Deputy Head Lisa Fish said; “We, like all schools, believe in giving the children the best opportunities, and this was one of the biggest yet. The children were given a moment and they took it with both hands, but the ability to perform infront of their parents and families at a professional performing arts venue like this was huge.”

“People such as David Bowie have performed here and when the children come back to the Playhouse they’ll be able to look at the stage and know they’ve performed there. We’d like to thank Rory Davies and his team at the playhouse because without allowing us to use the venue this wouldn’t have been possible.”
