    Pemberley Reading Quest

It’s time to set off – on the Pemberley Reading Quest!

At Pemberley Academy we take an utmost pride in the love for reading that our children and staff have.

To encourage reading for pleasure we have put together the ‘Pemberley Reading Quest’. The quest includes 6 books per year group chosen by the staff at Pemberley. These books are in our opinion fantastic and must reads for children across their primary school lives.

We hope this quest can inspire, guide and help your child’s love of reading grow. Many of the titles are available in our school library but we do encourage use of local libraries where possible.

Check out the launch video on our youtube channel:

    Colorado Class Visit Hatfield House

Colorado Class visited Hatfield House. This stunning house and grounds were a favourite of Henry VIII and his court. During our visit we walked around the lovely grounds (visiting the Elizabeth Oak Tree) and also got to meet Henry himself! We sang him one of his favourite songs ‘The Hunt Is Up’ and luckily nobody was beheaded!

    Do You Remember?

This Summer, the children faced the daunting prospect of performing on stage at Harlow Playhouse, and they not only rose to the occasion, they knocked it out of the park!

The children performed hits from the 60s through to the 00s, and acted out some memorable highlights from each decade.

Pemberley Academy pupils shine on Harlow Playhouse stage

THE pupils from Pemberley Academy had the chance to shine on Friday night when they took to the Playhouse stage for their end of year performance. No strangers to the venue, where the children had performed in last year although in the smaller Studio 2.

Taking the parents back through the decades with a show entitled ‘Do you remember’ the children from Reception to year 4 treated the audience to drama, dance and music in front of a sell out house.

Deputy Head Lisa Fish said; “We, like all schools, believe in giving the children the best opportunities, and this was one of the biggest yet. The children were given a moment and they took it with both hands, but the ability to perform infront of their parents and families at a professional performing arts venue like this was huge.”

“People such as David Bowie have performed here and when the children come back to the Playhouse they’ll be able to look at the stage and know they’ve performed there. We’d like to thank Rory Davies and his team at the playhouse because without allowing us to use the venue this wouldn’t have been possible.”
